The commune of Aïn Cheggag, in the Sefrou province, will live from 22 to 24 August to the rhythm of the fourth edition of the Tislit Aïn Cheggag Festival. Initiated by the "Asdae Aïn Cheggag" association, this event aims to make the general public aware of local artisanal and agricultural traditions and to value the cultural and artistic heritage of the region, to make it a lever for sustainable development.
Demonstrating their desire for openness to other regions of Morocco, the organisers opted for "The union of cultures" as the theme of this edition. "The Aïn Cheggag Festival has the ambition this year to promote understanding and solidarity between the different cultures characterising Moroccan society. In this context, it is a rich and varied programme that reflects the openness to other cultures that has been concocted to seduce the some 200,000 visitors expected this year," specifies Lahcen Ammari, director of the Tislit Aïn Cheggag Festival. Thus, in the "Tislit" section, which focuses on the organisation of a collective wedding ceremony, the novelty for this edition concerns the participation in the festivities of Hassani couples alongside Amazigh couples. Fantasia is also at the forefront of the festival, with shows presented by troupes representing the different regions of Morocco.
Round tables that will be an opportunity to debate the prospects for local development of Aïn Cheggag and the relationship between cultures, Amazigh and Hassani, evenings of Amazigh poetry (Inchaden), and open-air shows hosted by about fifteen Ahidous troupes from the region and renowned artists of Moroccan song, are also on the menu.
The organisers also plan a fair of local products and exhibitions of local handicraft products, with the aim of creating an economic and social dynamic in the region. Furthermore, sport, as usual, will be well present with football, pétanque, and martial arts tournaments on the programme as well as a road race competition. It should be noted that the "Asdae Aïn Cheggag" association, organiser of the said festival and which includes about twenty small associations, has as its main mission to organise the Aïn Cheggag Festival and ensure its continuity. The associations that are part of the "Asdae Aïn Cheggag" association each exercise in a specific field, representing an axis of the festival (Ahidous, sport, fantasia, etc.). These associations take advantage of the festival to exhibit the achievements that have been made throughout the year in their respective fields. This Festival therefore represents a space for meetings and exchange for the different associations of Aïn Cheggag.
