More than 1,500 psychotropic tablets, 2.4 kg of hashish, 10 kg of "Maâjoune" (a type of pasty electuary prepared from hemp resin and a number of aphrodisiac substances) and 2 kg of snuff tobacco (Nefha) were seized over a fortnight, between 25 April and 9 May, by elements of the judicial police of the Mers Sultan-El Fida district in Casablanca, a police source reported.
The same source specified that the detectives of the district in question have long been conducting a permanent campaign against traffickers of all kinds of drugs. During the same period, the detectives of the same police district apprehended about fifty dealers, sixteen of whom were engaged in the trafficking of psychotropic tablets, thirty-one for hashish trafficking, six specialised in "Maâjoune" trafficking and three in snuff tobacco trafficking, the same police source learned.
Furthermore, still according to the same source, more than 950 suspects were brought to justice by the detectives of the Mers Sultan-El Fida district, including twenty-five people who were wanted on a national scale and were arrested during morning police raids.
