It was on Jaafar El Kettani Street, Dakhla district, prefecture of the El Fida-Mers Sultan districts, in Casablanca, that Y. L. was born in 1991. In fact, it was on this street that he learned everything, especially as a child: running, playing ball and hide-and-seek, chatting... and forging his own personality. Like any child, he joined the school benches. His parents wished for him to earn an important degree and be recruited into a large company. They wished that one day he would provide for their needs. However, he failed halfway through his studies. He did not even manage to get his Baccalaureate. In short, he abandoned his studies to start fending for himself to earn a living.

Y. L. had, as his friends describe him, a strong personality and enjoyed a good reputation. He only smoked cigarettes, no drugs, no alcoholic drinks either. He was even described as a pious person who never missed his five prayers. But what happened to him a few months ago? He fell madly in love with a teenager who lives on Sidi Rachid Street, not far from his home. He became crazy about her to the point that he could not spend a day without crossing her path. Finally, she agreed to meet him from time to time a little far from their neighbourhood. They would take a walk in the city centre, laugh, chat, converse... But everything was turned upside down when he proposed marriage to her. Some claimed that Y. L.'s parents did not accept him marrying his beloved, and others explained that she herself refused to marry. But in both cases, Y. L.'s project was thwarted.

It was Monday, April 15. Around 5 p.m., Y. L. thought he had made the right decision. With a bottle filled with a litre and a half of petrol in his hand, he stood in front of his beloved's home and started calling her. No one answered him.

Suddenly, he doused himself with petrol before setting fire to his body. He was evacuated to the Ibn Rochd hospital, but on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, April 17 to 18, he passed away.
