This initiative, co-financed by the European Union and the Finnish government, aims to facilitate the global shift towards sustainable, low-carbon growth and a pollution-free environment.
This document aims to implement innovative plastic waste collection methods, establish storage centers in commercial and residential areas, and enhance the training and livelihoods of waste collectors.
Both parties have committed to developing PET packaging recycling techniques, promoting circular economy practices, and building local capacity for a more sustainable industrial sector.
President Maâzouz stated that this initiative is part of the region's 2022-2027 development plan, aiming to reduce plastic pollution and increase recycling collection points.
For his part, UNIDO's Sanae Lahlou emphasized the importance of local partnerships to accelerate the transition to a sustainable economy, highlighting the need for collaborative efforts to innovate in plastic waste recycling.
This collaboration reflects Morocco's broader strategy to integrate circular economy principles into its industrial policies, fostering sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
