Tetouan pays tribute to Abdelkrim Ouazzani

The city of Tetouan hosted a ceremony on Friday in tribute to Abdelkrim Ouazzani, one of the pioneers of Moroccan plastic art, presided over by the Minister of Culture, Mohamed Amine Sbihi.

The regional delegation of Culture organised on this occasion an artistic and cultural exhibition at the Centre for Modern Art of Tetouan in which several personalities from the world of art and culture took part.

The Minister of Culture stressed, on this occasion, that the tribute paid to Abdelkrim Ouazzani, former director of the Institute of Fine Arts, is a tribute to a whole generation of Moroccan artists and a mark of esteem and consideration for artists who laid the foundations of this artistic culture, which has allowed Morocco to occupy a place of choice on the international map of plastic arts.

Abdelkrim Ouazzani has become a national reference in art and the cultural and creative industry, which preserves the memory of Morocco, noted Sbihi, recalling the interest that HM King Mohammed VI continues to accord to art and culture and which was reinforced by the inauguration by the Sovereign recently in Rabat of the Museum of Contemporary Art, which constitutes an important turning point in the preparation of infrastructures that reflect the radiant face of Moroccan arts on the local, national and international levels.
