The torchlight retreat as an opening

Initiated by the city's Municipal Council and the "Hab Lamlouk" Association, this cultural and artistic event recorded on the first day of its start a massive influx of visitors and national and foreign tourists who came to follow as usual the traditional torchlight retreat ceremony. The first day of the Festival was also marked by the visit of the governor of the Sefrou province, Abdeslam Zouggar, and the president of the city's Municipal Council, Abdellatif Maâzouz, as well as several personalities to the cherry products fair and exhibitions of Moroccan cities classified as UNESCO intangible heritage. This four-day cultural event, which has become an unmissable appointment over the years, offers the public a wide range of artistic and musical activities and thematic conferences led by eminent researchers and academics on "The role of civil society in the preservation of identity" and "The role of heritage in the preservation of the memory of peoples". In addition to entertainment spaces for children and a Book Fair, the Festival will bring together famous artists, orchestras, and folklore troupes from Morocco for the greatest happiness of music lovers and visitors. It also provides for the organisation of unprecedented fantasia shows, exhibitions, and artistic evenings as well as the signing of poetry collections and ceremonies in tribute to local and national artists. Sport will also be on the menu of this cultural event through the organisation of a multitude of activities including notably football tournaments, road races, and tennis, basketball, and pétanque matches. The Festival also includes spaces dedicated to the region's cooperatives to market their local products with a view to encouraging the social and solidarity economy and consolidating the position of the cooperative sector. The Cherry Festival will be enhanced on Friday evening by the grandiose coronation ceremony of "Miss Cerisette" 2013.
