No fewer than 11,237 individuals have been referred to the courts under arrest for alleged involvement in criminal or delinquent acts committed in Salé between 16 May 2011 and 14 May 2012. According to figures made public on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of the creation of the National Security, 29,563 cases were recorded by the security services during the same period, of which nearly 29,000 files were processed. These statistics give the measure of the action taken to fight against all forms of crime and to preserve the safety of citizens and their property. In the same vein, the judicial police of Salé recorded 4,062 cases, of which 3,992 were processed, and proceeded to the arrest of 8,544 individuals in the context of various cases. More than 3,000 hookahs were also seized, in cooperation with the local authorities, and 18 cafés offering hookah among their services were closed. As for the public security services, they recorded 25,501 cases during the same period, of which 24,800 were processed, and referred 2,750 people to the courts in detention and 2,011 others on provisional release.
