For the seventh consecutive year, the "Safi Ville" beach has been awarded the famous environmental label. A ceremony was organised for the occasion, announcing by the same token the opening of the summer season.
Prized this summer by thousands of holidaymakers, the municipal beach of the city of Safi, once again labelled, has vibrated again this year to the rhythm of its "Clean Beaches" programme initiated by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection. The official opening of the season was carried out on Tuesday 28 July 2015 during a ceremony organised by Ciments du Maroc, which supports three beaches in the region. It should be noted that among the activities that most caught the attention of holidaymakers and visitors this year will have been, without a doubt, this village erected on site and christened "Lawlabyat Assafi". This space allowed local associations, notably Al Karam, Al Manar, Achouala, the Marrakech Palm Grove Observatory and many other NGOs to collaborate for the setting up of a particular animation.
This contributed to the sensitisation of young people regarding the interest and importance that the preservation of the environment in general and that of the coastline in particular holds today. Another point that characterised this event was that of the means put in place by Ciments du Maroc and its partners with the perspective of offering a more enriching programme, capable of proposing to child holidaymakers an animation that is at once educational, playful and diversified. Likewise, a workshop dedicated to prevention in terms of health and safety was organised with the goal of providing children with introductory courses in first aid. In short, the "Lawlabyat Assafi" village is a place of entertainment and culture, in the measure that it allowed holidaymakers access to numerous workshops: sensitisation to the protection of the environment, artistic and scientific recycling, sports activities, etc. Furthermore, Ciments du Maroc, a subsidiary of Italcementi Group, the 2nd cement manufacturer in Morocco and 1st operator in ready-mix concrete, has supported three beaches in the Doukkala-Abda region since 2001, the date of the launch of the "Clean Beaches" programme by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection.
These are the "Lalla Fatna", "Karram Eddif" and "Safi Ville" beaches, which has been labelled "Blue Flag" since 2009. Finally, it must be recognised that the obtaining of this certification is the fruit of efforts led jointly by the teams of the Wilaya, the commune, the province and the Ciments du Maroc factory in Safi.
