Tourism operators called to be more vigilant

A meeting brought together around the same table the provincial authorities (wilaya, security, Royal Gendarmerie, Auxiliary Forces) and professionals operating in the tourism sector. The objective is to sensitise the latter, notably hoteliers, restaurateurs, and tourism transport promoters, following the threats recently made against our country by certain radical Islamist organisations.

Chaired by the Wali of the Doukkala-Abda region and governor of the province, Abdelfattah Labjioui, this meeting was therefore a propitious occasion to consult on this question that no one should ignore, given the adherence of some of our fellow citizens to certain organisations that are hostile to modernism, openness, democracy, and human rights. Certainly, the State has taken all the necessary provisions and measures aimed at ensuring the security of the country and meticulously monitoring all entry and exit movements at the level of all border crossing points (air, sea, land), but the participatory approach with all the components of society and those of the institutions remains in order and therefore imperatively unavoidable in this type of situation. Why tourism first? Quite simply, because it is often the most targeted and the most exposed to certain malicious acts given its influential role in the national economy. "Reason for which it is necessary to show a lot of vigilance and caution inside the units that you manage," specified the Wali, urging the hotel promoters present to take certain measures including the strengthening of means (security agents, etc.), the placement of surveillance cameras, and the sensitisation of all staff. Finally, all these preventive measures must be taken in such a way as to spare the country in general and the city of Safi in particular from any act of madness that could possibly be perpetrated either by an indoctrinated fellow citizen or by foreigners who show jealousy and animosity towards our country. During the debate, the participants all manifested their availability to put in place a state-of-the-art surveillance system, and their unconditional mobilisation, as well as to collaborate closely with the territorial authorities and security services.
