The 4th edition of the International Forum of Medinas, organised by the Mediterranean Network of Medinas on 6 May in Ouazzane, resulted in the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Tourism, the municipal council of the city of Ouazzane, and the provincial council.
This memorandum, signed by Lahcen Haddad, the Minister of Tourism, aims to consecrate a dynamic of cooperation for the development of cultural tourism in the province of Ouazzane, notably through the development of the old Medina, within the framework of a participatory approach and to benefit from tourism programmes launched within the framework of Vision 2020.
"This convention also aims to multiply efforts and actions in terms of promoting the city's cultural heritage, the implementation of tourism animation programmes, the creation of tourist circuits, and the implementation of a tourist signage plan in the city," notes a press release from the Ministry.
The 2015 edition of the International Forum of Medinas was organised under the theme: "Medinas: crossroads of civilisations and space for spiritual tourism". The meeting aimed to consecrate the experience of the Mediterranean network of ancient cities at the national level and the opening to other regions of northern Morocco, but also to enhance the quality of the historical fabric of the cities and the development of intangible capital.
