Six gendarmes placed in police custody, during the death of a person, during a clean-up campaign in Oued Amlil
An officer commanding the Royal Gendarmerie company of Oued Amlil, in the province of Taza, as well as five other gendarmes have been placed in police custody suspected of having caused the death of a person arrested during a clean-up campaign carried out on 1 September 2015, the Ministry of the Interior indicates on Wednesday in a press release.
"The investigation, conducted by the national brigade of the Royal Gendarmerie, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, showed that this officer and the incriminated gendarmes caused the death of a person arrested during a clean-up campaign carried out on 1 September 2015", adds the same source, noting that "the deceased, who was brutally manhandled by the incriminated gendarmes, had succumbed during his transfer to the Taza hospital from the consequences of haemorrhagic shock".
The six gendarmes will be presented for criminal prosecution before the competent courts, the same source specifies.
