Ramadan, an opportunity for education in noble values

Ramadan, an opportunity for education in noble values

Like other regions of Morocco, the holy month of Ramadan in Meknes provides an opportunity to pay special attention to the underprivileged, widows, and people with specific needs, in order to alleviate their suffering and bring a smile to their faces.

As is customary, many civil society associations and benefactors in the prefecture have initiated humanitarian campaigns during the blessed month of Ramadan, through collective Iftar operations and the distribution of clothing for orphans and needy families. The goal is to uphold the values of conviviality, solidarity, mutual aid, and social cohesion among the populations of the Ismaili capital. Approached by MAP, many community actors and city residents felt that the advent of the holy month is an ideal occasion to fully experience the values of mutual aid and solidarity in order to benefit from divine grace. According to Ayoub Salem, a coordinator within the local association "faîl khayr" (benefactor), Ramadan is a month of solidarity, conviviality, and assistance to precarious social categories, particularly orphans, widows, and people with specific needs.

Charitable actions during the holy month of Ramadan do not consist only of distributing meals and drinks, but also of visiting the homes of these families to make them happy and spread joy. For his part, the president of the "Fajr Moulay Driss of the Holy Quran" association, Abdessalem Chbihi, indicated that the social support granted to the needy and passers-by during this blessed month represents a "human initiative par excellence." This social action, which enshrines the values of conviviality and solidarity between the different layers of society, will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the beneficiaries, he said.

Kamal J., an executive in the education department, praised the charitable social initiatives that many associations are accustomed to organising during this month, noting that Ramadan is not only a period of fasting, but also a time of spirituality and mutual aid.

For her part, Fatima R., a widow and mother of three children, pleaded for support for orphans and the strengthening of charitable actions for the benefit of the underprivileged, in order to spread joy and happiness among the various social strata. The "Fajr Moulay Driss of the Holy Quran" association organises a daily collective Iftar operation for about a hundred people among the city's needy layers.

The "faîl khayr" association, for its part, proceeded last Sunday to distribute 100 baskets, including food products, for the benefit of underprivileged families and will begin, next week, the distribution of 100 other baskets for the benefit of other beneficiaries.
