US President Barack Obama announced on Tuesday in Washington that the next annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit will be held on 20 and 21 November in Marrakech. This is the first time an African country has hosted this summit. The head of the US Executive made this announcement during his speech at the "US Africa Business Forum" in the presence of more than 40 African heads of state and government gathered in the US federal capital from 4 to 6 August, as part of the first US-Africa summit. In the joint statement that concluded the summit meeting between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the US President last November, Barack Obama had expressed his appreciation to the Sovereign for his offer to host the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, it is recalled. In a statement to MAP immediately after President Obama's announcement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Salaheddine Mezouar, affirmed that this is a "recognition of the momentum that Morocco is experiencing under the leadership of His Majesty the King and the success of the Kingdom's experience in entrepreneurship and promoting the role of the private sector." The minister indicated that this international gathering will be an open event during which "we will target different countries" with the aim of ensuring broader participation.
