The administrative police of the Guercif commune carried out a raid on Wednesday on a licensed chicken shop in Douar Ghiata, based on complaints from residents regarding the sale of meat unfit for consumption.
According to data available to Hespress, the inspection of the shop, which was used to sell turkey illegally, resulted in the discovery of 125 kilograms of frozen turkey necks in the shop's refrigerator, distributed in 25 bags each containing 5 kilograms.
After examining the seized quantity by a specialised committee including a doctor from the municipal health office, it was found that this quantity was expired and unfit for human consumption.
In the context of legal proceedings, the administrative police seized the confiscated quantity and summoned the health committee, in addition to elements of the police and local authorities, to have the seized items destroyed at the municipal pound.
