Call for the promotion of rock art heritage
Participants in a study day on rock art sites in the Southern provinces, held on Saturday in Guelmim, called for the development of a well-thought-out emergency programme, dedicated to the preservation, promotion and enhancement of this national cultural heritage. During the closing session of this meeting, organised by the Centre for Sahrawi Studies and the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), they also recommended identifying and inventorying all Moroccan rock art sites and ensuring their inclusion on the World Heritage list. In the same vein, the participants stressed the need for the involvement and mobilisation of all relevant government departments and the conclusion of partnerships with the media in order to raise public awareness of the importance and value of rock paintings.
