The National Security of Essaouira draws up its report

As part of a communication exercise with the press in Essaouira, the National Security has just drawn up the report of its activities during the first quarter of 2014. To this end, the security services identified 2,074 people, arrested 100 others who were the subject of search notices, carried out 1,053 procedures and referred 1,309 individuals to justice. Concerning cases of attacks on persons and property, the National Security services were able to resolve 13 cases for the formation of criminal gangs, 33 cases for theft, 6 cases for physical assault, 606 cases for disturbances in a state of drunkenness, and 387 other cases. For the fight against the use and trafficking of narcotics, the services concerned resolved 224 cases, including 41 for drug trafficking and 165 others for possession and consumption of narcotics. The security services were also able to resolve 72 cases of an economic nature, including 10 cases for forgery, 16 others for issuing cheques without provision and 26 cases for fraud. The traffic file also occupies the centre stage in Essaouira. As a result, 2,699 vehicles were checked, and 803 reports drawn up. The total amount of penalties collected exceeded 460,000 dirhams while 664 driving licences were withdrawn and 179 vehicles, including motorcycles, cars and lorries, were deposited in the municipal pound. The police services also recorded 71 non-fatal accidents in the first quarter of 2014. The number of biometric national identity cards reached 14,412 with a total value of 1,163,345,000 DH. To this end, the competent services produced CINs by travelling to 21 disabled citizens, and 12 others for the benefit of 12 detainees and developed a strategy for the benefit of the province's qualifying high schools. The surroundings of the city's schools are among the concerns of the security services, which have set up a brigade specialised in the matter. The efforts deployed to this end have allowed, among other things, the resolution of 29 cases for disturbances in a state of drunkenness, 18 others for possession and consumption of drugs, 55 others for exchange of violence, 05 cases for violence against teaching staff, 09 others for sexual harassment, and one case for physical assault against a security agent. A strategy to strengthen the socio-cultural approach in the security system is in preparation through an integrated action plan developed in close collaboration with the delegation of the Ministry of National Education. To this end, 2,441 students from different school cycles benefited from awareness sessions supervised by police officers on themes focused on school violence, sexual harassment, drug trafficking and consumption, citizenship education, as well as cybercrime, and road safety.
