Five dead in an accident in Essaouira

Five dead in an accident in Essaouira

Heavy and painful is the toll of a new accident that occurred on 6 May 2014 in the rural commune of Sidi Abdeljalil in the province of Essaouira. According to health sources, 5 passengers, including one woman, lost their lives in this accident, which also left 37 injured among the 42 passengers of a bus that overturned at the exit of a bend on the road connecting Safi and Essaouira. The dead and injured were transferred to the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah Provincial Hospital Centre (CHP) in Essaouira, while 3 serious cases will be transported to the Marrakech University Hospital Centre (CHU) by ambulances mobilised by the regional health delegation. Local authorities, the Royal Gendarmerie, the National Security, and the administrative and medical staff of the CHP were all mobilised to ensure maximum care and follow-up for the victims of this new accident, which recalls another more dramatic one that occurred only a few months ago on the road connecting Essaouira and Agadir.
