The Tamanar forest is on fire

The Tamanar forest is on fire

Essaouira has once again been confronted with forest fires. A fire broke out on Friday, 25 May 2012, in the Tamanar forest located in the Haha zone of the Essaouira province. According to consistent sources, more than twenty hectares of vegetation were burnt during this fire, which required the massive intervention of the Civil Protection units, the Royal Gendarmerie, and the Auxiliary Forces, equipped with water tankers and supported by helicopters. This intervention, which succeeded in stopping the advance of the flames, lasted two days.

However, the area has been placed under high surveillance while awaiting the causes of the disaster.
