The pupils of the Al Khansaa school in Essaouira accompanied by their parents and guardians, inhabitants of Essaouira El Jadida, organised a sit-in in Ghazoua located 10 km from Essaouira to demand the opening of their school, still held hostage between an entrepreneur who refuses to hand over the establishment before collection of his dues, and a payment method that goes slower than the work carried out.
After completion of the construction work on the Al Khansaa school, the entrepreneur, for lack of payment, refused to hand over the school to the services of the delegation of the Ministry of National Education, something which perfectly falls within his right, but which constitutes an isolated case according to concordant sources at the MEN delegation in Essaouira. Usually, after finishing, entrepreneurs deliver the work in question to the heritage services while waiting for the balance sheet deposit. The proof, a good number of entrepreneurs who have just built middle schools in the delegation have not yet received a good part of their dues. But the establishments have been delivered and the classes are already operational. The delegation's services cite certain cases that testify to another approach to managing this type of file of a pedagogical and social nature; entrepreneurs have delivered classes while waiting for the realisation of other structures to allow pupils to join their classes and not compromise the start of the school year. However, all opinions agree on the quality of the constructions of the Al Khansaa school which were carried out at a cost largely lower than similar contracts.
According to a press release from the Association of Guardians and Parents of Pupils of the Al Khansaa School, the 200 schoolchildren continue their schooling in the boarding school of the Higher School of Technology in Ghazoua, in conditions unfavourable to learning. An unsanitary space lacking drinking water. The APT declares itself ready to adopt other forms of protest to assert the right of their children to schooling according to standards.
Several concordant sources affirm that the situation is moving towards a definitive unblocking, the financial services of the Marrakech-Tensift El Haouz Regional Academy would have already carried out a first count in favour of the entrepreneur while waiting for the payment of the second and last instalment of the value of this contract which should benefit the learners instead of becoming a dispute.
