A delegation of ambassadors accredited to Morocco visited Dakhla from 4 January to 7 January at the initiative of the Diplomatic Foundation, where they observed the socio-economic boom and the dynamic development of the Oued Eddahab-Lagouira region.
The members of this delegation, composed of representatives from several African and Asian countries, were received by the Wali of the Oued Eddahab-Lagouira region, Hamid Chabar, who reviewed the achievements made to promote the local development process and improve the living conditions of the local population, while ensuring conditions of stability, security, and peace in this region.
During a meeting at the headquarters of the Regional Investment Centre, the members of this delegation were informed about the potential of the Oued Eddahab-Lagouira region and the investment opportunities it offers, as well as the major projects underway in this region. The delegation attended a presentation on the important sectors of the regional economy, the programmes and investments made to provide the region with modern infrastructure and to valorise local potential, in addition to the incentive measures put in place for investors.
The members of this delegation held a series of meetings with local elected officials, which provided an opportunity for the delegation to learn about the role of elected bodies in the management of public affairs at the local, provincial, and regional levels.
Explanations were also provided to them on the contribution of these elected bodies to the development dynamic as a force for proposals and an actor in decision-making regarding the implementation of projects and their financing in coordination with the various departments concerned.
Several visits were on the agenda for this delegation, including the new port of Dakhla, a pelagic fish processing unit, a drinking water treatment plant, a farm using new technologies, the National Centre for Fisheries Research, the church of Dakhla, the fish market, projects carried out within the framework of the INDH, and the new international airport terminal, as well as visits to cultural and sports spaces.
