The first nurserymen's fair in Azrou

The Minister of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries, Aziz Akhannouch, kicked off the first fair for fruit tree producers and nurserymen in Azrou on Friday, organised until 13 January under the theme "The nurseryman at the service of Green Morocco".

Organised by the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Meknès-Tafilalet, the Interprofessional Federation of Fruit Productions in Morocco, the Ifrane province, and the Association of Flowering Tree Producers of Azrou, this exhibition aims to promote the production of fruit trees and the development of cultivation processes in accordance with the objectives of the Green Morocco Plan (PMV). In a statement to MAP, Mr. Akhannouch noted that the production of flowering plants in the Azrou region represents between 50% and 70% of national production, stressing that the PMV aims to produce more than 235 million trees by 2020. In this sense, he noted the need to provide support and aid to nurserymen in order to achieve production that is qualitatively and quantitatively in line with the plans drawn up. For his part, the president of the Association of Flowering Plant Producers in Azrou, Mohamed Ait Taher, stressed that this fair aims to make known the potential of producers in the region as well as to support the PMV in the field of fruit crops.
