The 3rd version of the FNTH aims to promote Hassani theatre by spreading Hassani culture nationwide as a component of Moroccan culture and identity.
The 3rd edition of the National Hassani Theatre Festival (FNTH) will be held from 17 to 19 December in the capital of the Souss, at the initiative of the "Ouafae Agadir Theatre Troupe".
This event aims to promote Hassani theatre by spreading Hassani culture nationwide as a component of Moroccan culture and identity, the 4th art being an expressive mode that allows for the development of artistic visions and thus brings the spectator closer to this culture, indicates a press release from the organisers.
This 3rd version of the Festival also aims to contribute to developing professional theatrical practice in the southern regions of the Kingdom, to highlight the assets and particularities of Hassani theatre, while strengthening the links between artists and actors from different backgrounds.
The Festival also works to boost Hassani expressions in national artistic productions, encourage theatrical creations and offer young talents the opportunity to flourish and express themselves on stage.
According to the same source, this 3rd edition invites a selection of Moroccan artists of the calibre of Meryem Zaïmi, Amine Naji, Tarik El Boukhari, Mohamed Khouyi, in addition to poets Mohamed Souih and El Yazid Salek.
Alongside the theatrical performances that will be given in the "Ibrahim Radi" hall, the programme for this edition includes other events, notably meetings, training workshops and musical and poetic evenings.
The presidency of the jury, tasked with deciding between the competing plays, has been entrusted this year to the playwright Abdelkarim Berrechid.
