The province of Midelt witnessed, last night, Friday, and this morning, Saturday, significant snowfall that led to the closure of a number of road axes and caused confusion in traffic; which required urgent intervention from the local authorities.

Local sources reported that the snowfall affected various areas of the province, where significant thickness was recorded in many road sections; which directly affected traffic on national, regional, provincial, and local roads.
Immediately upon receiving notification of this situation, Abdelwahab Fadel, Governor of Midelt province, issued his instructions to the competent services for urgent intervention and to accelerate the pace of opening the affected road axes, as all necessary material and human resources were harnessed to face this exceptional situation.

A significant number of heavy machinery and equipment, including snowploughs and salt-spreading trucks, were deployed in various affected points, as intervention teams continue their work continuously to clear snow and ensure the safety of road users.
Informed sources confirmed that the local authorities have set up a crisis cell to monitor the situation closely and coordinate between various stakeholders, with telephone numbers allocated to communicate with citizens in emergency cases and provide necessary assistance to those stranded on the roads.

The competent services continue their tireless efforts to open all affected road axes, with an emphasis on the need for caution by road users and avoiding unnecessary travel during these difficult weather conditions.
In this context, the local authorities call on citizens to adhere to preventive guidelines and equip their vehicles with the necessary equipment for driving in snow, while ensuring to follow weather forecasts and news about the state of the roads before travelling.

For their part, the residents of the concerned areas, in identical telephone statements to Hespress, expressed their relief and appreciation for the rapid and effective intervention of the local authorities and competent services, praising the efforts made by all stakeholders in the field, which enabled the mitigation of the crisis and ensured the continuity of traffic in light of these difficult weather conditions.
Many citizens confirmed, in separate statements, that the comprehensive mobilisation of the concerned services and the continuous field interventions contributed significantly to limiting the repercussions of this snowfall on the daily life of the population.
