Wide-ranging night campaigns continue across the Al Hoceima province to shelter and care for homeless people, providing them with support and protecting them from the bitter cold wave that the region is experiencing during these days.
The provincial delegate for National Mutual Aid, Driss El Alami, confirmed in a press statement that this initiative comes within the framework of the 2024/2025 winter campaign to shelter homeless people, and continues throughout this season in the streets, alleys, and public squares in various cities and communes of the province, in an effort to protect this group, especially in light of the sharp drop in temperatures in the region.
He highlighted that the provincial delegation for National Mutual Aid in Al Hoceima, in coordination with local authorities, the National Security, the Auxiliary Forces, and the Ahad Association for Charitable Works, conducts night patrols to monitor and shelter this group in reception centres, whether official ones such as the Social Centre for Sheltering Homeless People in Al Hoceima and the Provincial Centre for Social Care in Imzouren, or temporary centres that have been equipped specifically for this purpose, such as the Targuist city centre.
Driss El Alami pointed out that the cases that are monitored and cared for benefit from social assistance and shelter services, as well as medical services, such as examinations and medicines, in coordination with the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, noting that more than 120 cases have been cared for at the province level since the start of the campaign.
This initiative seeks to alleviate the suffering of homeless people and provide them with shelter, food, drink, hygiene, and medical examinations.
It is worth noting that this operation involves important humanitarian dimensions and continues throughout the winter period, in implementation of the recommendations of the provincial authorities in the Al Hoceima prefecture, in order to preserve the dignity of this vulnerable group of society and provide support and all basic needs for them.
