Casablanca – Elements of the Casablanca judicial police prefecture service proceeded, on Thursday, to the arrest of a French national of Algerian origin (38 years old) who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities, with a view to the execution of a custodial sentence following his conviction in a case of serious assault and battery.
The suspect was arrested in Casablanca, a security source indicates, noting that the check in the database of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) revealed that he was the subject of a red notice issued for the execution of a prison sentence, pronounced against him in mid-2024 by the French justice system, in a case of assault on several people with a bladed weapon.
The accused has been placed in police custody on the orders of the competent Public Prosecutor's Office, as part of the extradition procedure in accordance with national legislation and international conventions on the matter.
This arrest is part of the active and effective commitment of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) to bilateral and multilateral cooperation, particularly regarding the pursuit of persons wanted at the international level for cross-border crimes, the same source concludes.
