The Casablanca Stock Exchange closed the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2024 on a rise, its main index, the MASI, gaining 2.79% to 14,773.19 points (pts).
The MASI.20, which reflects the performance of the prices of the 20 most liquid companies, improved by 2.66% to 1,193.02 pts and the MASI.ESG, an index of companies that receive the best ESG rating, as published by Moody's ESG Solutions, gained 0.43% to 1,034.74 pts.
The MASI Mid and Small Cap, a thematic index that calculates the performance of the prices of small and medium-sized companies listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange, climbed by 12.99% to 1,536.39 pts.
At the sectoral level, the transport index achieved the best performance (+66.09%), ahead of the agricultural industry (+45%) and chemistry (+24.01%).
On the other hand, the "engineering and industrial equipment goods" sector (-19.09%) recorded the sharpest decline, followed by the telecommunications (-12.76%) and beverage (-7.68%) sectors.
Trading exceeded 42.89 billion dirhams (MMDH), carried out mainly on the central market (20.22 MMDH), while the block market drained 19.79 MMDH.
On the podium of the most active stocks, BCP is at the top of the ranking with a transactional volume of 2 MMDH, ahead of Attijariwafa Bank (1.8 MMDH) and Douja Prom Addoha (1.4 MMDH). Market capitalisation, meanwhile, amounted to more than 752.43 MMDH.
In individual stocks, Jet Contractors (+92.86% to 1,890 DH), Ctm (+66.09% to 1,097 DH), Alliances (+48.61% to 480 DH), Cmgp Group (+45% to 290 DH) and Snep (+25% to 595 DH) posted the strongest increases.
Conversely, the sharpest declines were recorded by Zellidja S.A (-31.06% to 102 DH), Stroc Industrie (-30.83% to 42.05 DH), Promopharm S.A (-17.39% to 950 DH), Smi (-14.27% to 1,971 DH) and Totalenergies Marketing Maroc (-13.79% to 1,500 DH).
