The court of first instance of Marrakech sentenced two minors, involved in the events of Sidi Youssef Ben Ali, to a two-month prison sentence each on Friday, a judicial source reported.
The accused were prosecuted for insulting public officials, the same source specified.
The court is due to examine the case of 12 other people, including 2 minors, arrested following the recent events of Sidi Youssef Ben Ali in Marrakech, on January 7th.
The alleged culprits are being prosecuted for "unauthorised gathering, assault and battery against public officials, destruction of others' property and public property, and incitement to violence". This case dates back to December 28th and 29th, when the defendants participated in an unauthorised demonstration to protest against the high cost of water and electricity bills.
