The services of the regional directorate of customs and indirect taxes of Marrakech proceeded, Wednesday in the commune of Sâada, to the destruction by incineration of 2,894 kg of drugs of different types.

The quantities incinerated had been seized in the period between April and the end of September 2012 by the services in charge of the fight against narcotics in the Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz region.

These include, among others, 1,776.91 kg of Chira (cannabis resin), 914.522 kg of kif, 190.970 kg of tobacco, 0.177 kg of cocaine, 11.075 kg of honeyed tobacco, as well as 0.130 kg of drugs in paste form (mâajoune).

This operation is part of the continuous efforts of the customs services to fight effectively against narcotics, declared to MAP Mouhieddine Abdelkader, authorising officer at the regional directorate of customs and indirect taxes.

It took place in the presence of a commission composed of a representative of the public prosecutor's office, local authorities, the Royal Gendarmerie, the National Security, and officials of the regional directorate of customs and indirect taxes.
