The province of Mediouna has been transformed into an open-air construction site during the last few years. Due to its strategic location between Mohammedia and Bouskoura, the region has been assigned an important role in the development of Greater Casablanca. In this framework, the councils of the province, the region, and the prefecture have launched several social, cultural, and sporting projects capable of meeting the needs of the inhabitants and opening Mediouna to its environment. Thus, a regional hospital is being finalised. Established on an area of 2.4 ha, this project will group together several care, surgery, and emergency services in addition to a pavilion to receive the families of patients. According to officials in Mediouna, the cost of this project is estimated at 35 million dirhams. Road infrastructures have also been reinforced in order to facilitate access to the province and the travel of the inhabitants. In this context, the construction and reinforcement of the roads of Tit Mellil and Lahraouyine have been launched. In the centre of Mediouna, the upgrading of Boulevard Mohammed V and the Al Qods district is currently underway. "The Mediouna-Mohammedia axis via Tit Mellil will also be the subject of a rehabilitation operation, given the importance of this axis and the flow of vehicles it records daily," we learn from Salaheddine Aboulghali, president of the provincial council of Mediouna. The latter reconfirms his commitment to involve all the human and institutional energies of the region, including the inhabitants, the elected officials, and the provincial authorities in order to make the upgrading of Mediouna a success. Several real estate projects are also launched at the level of this province in order to accompany its demographic growth. As an example, we cite the Kasbah project, installed on an area of 10 hectares. "Estimated at a budget of 52 million dirhams, this programme is reserved for the equipment of 264 plots of land intended for the relocation of the inhabitants of Mediouna and the Mejjatia-Ouled Taleb commune," affirms an elected official of Mediouna. Other operations of the same kind are also in the process of being finalised at the level of this commune, such as the "Al Hamd" project estimated at 250 MDH and planned on an area of 50 hectares and the "Arrachad" project which includes 2,735 plots of land. Pilot markets and shopping centres are also on the development programme of
Mediouna. A budget of more than 3 MDH has been reserved for the setting up of a commercial space that will group together street vendors and will participate in the modernisation of local trade, according to elected officials on the provincial council. The latter confirm that development projects are diversifying in their territory. It is for them a rejuvenation cure that targets all sectors in the hope of making Mediouna an attractive pole for investors.
It should be noted that a budget of 600,000 dirhams has been allocated by the provincial council to establish the Communal Development Plan of the province (PDC), with a view to establishing a clear working vision in the medium and long term.
Projects for the benefit of young people
More than 9 million dirhams have been reserved by the province of Mediouna to build and equip a covered hall at the level of the sports complex of the region. This project is considered as a local service for the young people of the province in need of sports infrastructure. Furthermore, a cultural complex is planned in the years to come. The financial package for this project is estimated at more than 5 MDH. The complex will encompass educational and cultural activities as well as coaching and training programmes to improve the skills of young people in terms of investment.
