The 2nd edition of the M'diq Meeting of the Book and the Author opened on Friday in this city with the participation of a plethora of intellectuals, academics, researchers, and artists.

"The organisation of this meeting comes in a context marked by the construction of spaces with a socio-cultural vocation that have contributed to the animation and revitalisation of the cultural scene", noted the president of the Association of Former Students of the Fkih Mohammed Daoud Qualifying High School, Mustapha El Aouzi.

The programme of this edition, organised by the said Association in collaboration with the Tangier-Tetouan regional council, includes a series of literary meetings and round tables and a book fair marked by the presence of a good number of publishing houses, national and international cultural institutes, and Moroccan universities, specified Mr. El Aouzi.

For his part, the vice-president of the Tangier-Tetouan regional council, Abdelwahed Chair, highlighted the role of civil society in the promotion of the cultural scene and the realisation of sustainable development. This edition includes a series of literary meetings and round tables focusing on issues of writing, creativity, and culture in general, as well as tributes to several academics and artists in recognition of their contributions to the preservation of Moroccan culture and the enrichment of its tributaries. The book fair, which punctuates this event, includes 20 stands where more than 4,000 works in several languages are exhibited.
