A medical caravan to help isolated regions

A multidisciplinary medical caravan was recently organised for the inhabitants of the Imrabten commune (nearly 40 km south of Al Hoceima), at the initiative of the Association of Student Engineers of the Mohammed VI International Academy of Civil Aviation (AIAC).

This caravan, organised in partnership with the Association of Students and Doctors of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Casablanca, aimed to provide preventive, curative, and corrective consultations, in addition to distributing medicines and spectacles to the population of the Tamasint Centre, which falls under the Imrabten commune, explained Abdelmonaim El Attabi, an AIAC student and president of this caravan, the third of its kind.

The choice of this region was based essentially on the criteria of its distance from urban centres and medical services, as well as its terrain, which makes it difficult for the population to travel to healthcare centres in Al Hoceima, stressed El Attabi, noting that this caravan provides several specialities, notably cardiology, gynaecology, paediatrics, endocrinology, ENT, and ophthalmology.

For his part, the vice-president of the Association of Students and Doctors of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Casablanca, Achraf Soukkari, assured that this caravan aims to contribute, even if only slightly, to relieving the needy patients of this isolated region, noting that this initiative reflects the association's awareness of the major importance of health as an indicator of human development.

Organised in collaboration with the Al Hoceima Youth Initiative Association, this caravan received visits from the Wali of the Taza-Al Hoceima-Taounate region, Mohamed El Hafi, the President of the Regional Council, Mohamed Boudra, elected officials, civil society actors, and a group of provincial and regional officials.
