The Abdelkarim Daoudi qualifying high school in Fès recently organised a competition for the benefit of the most gifted students in the English language. Initiated by English teachers Abdelaziz El Arssi and Youssef Boutaher, this competition aimed above all to motivate students whose living conditions are difficult. "It must first be remembered that our high school is located in a very vulnerable zone (the peripheral district of Bensouda). By organising this event, we wanted to show that even students who do not have the means and who live in marginalised districts can also excel and have enormous skills in linguistic matters," explained Abdelaziz El Arssi, member of the organising committee.

Thus, this competition allowed about fifteen students to show all their potential in the English language by expressing themselves on a precise subject. Before a jury and a captivated audience, the students managed to handle the language of Shakespeare wonderfully to talk about current topics such as social media, addiction to the internet, the generational clash, women's rights, youth delinquency, or even street children. Motivated by the 1st prize which will give them the opportunity to take free summer courses in the English language at the American Language Center of Fès, these students shone to convince the jury of the extent of their talents. Beyond its competitive character, this competition took place in a festive and friendly atmosphere, with students who won the admiration of their friends and teachers thanks to their will and their determination to succeed. The Abdelkarim Daoudi qualifying high school aims in the long term to make this competition an annual event, intended to discover the most talented students in the English language at the Bensouda level, to encourage them, and to motivate their parents to value their children's skills.
