A total of 148 major surgical interventions have been performed in the civil mobile hospital since its establishment almost a month ago in the locality of Boumia (Midelt province), recently affirmed the director of the hospital, Ouadie Kandoussi.
More than half of these interventions relate to paediatric surgery, Mr. Kandoussi was keen to specify during an information day initiated by the Ministry of Health, in the presence of about twenty journalists representing various national media.
This mobile hospital, set up in application of the decision of HM King Mohammed VI, provides surgical operations as well as various medical services free of charge, he made known, noting that this medical structure has recorded only one intra-hospital death. It is, he continued, an elderly patient admitted to the emergency unit of the mobile hospital for myocardial infarction, who succumbed to their crisis despite the rapid intervention of the on-duty team.
In one month of activities, the Boumia mobile hospital has accumulated 10,710 specialised external consultations, i.e., 85% of total hospital attendance, explained Mr. Kandoussi, stressing that the attendance of the emergency unit of the mobile hospital in one month of activities is 427 patients (12 patients per day), i.e., 3% of total hospital attendance.
For the official, the total number of admissions for hospitalisation is 285, i.e., 2.3% of total hospital attendance, including 137 admissions for day hospitalisation and 148 admissions for full hospitalisation.
He added that the main causes of admission to the emergency unit are diabetic decompensations, hysteria crises, hypertensive crises, digestive system diseases, and traumatic lesions.
He also indicated that the civil mobile hospital will continue to provide care and hospital services in proximity, thus responding to the needs and expectations of the populations of isolated localities and those suffering from difficult climatic and socio-economic conditions, with the aim of countering the existing problem of inequality in terms of the supply of healthcare.
At a pace of a month and a half per site, the mobile hospital will move to other isolated regions, namely Talat N'yacoub in Al Haouz, Tighirte in Sidi Ifni, Tagounite in Zagora, Fretissa in Boulemane, Stehat in Chefchaouen, Zoumi in Ouezzane, and Laarissa in My Yaacoub.
