Elements of the Tangier prefectural judicial police service arrested seven people at the end of the week during an operation that led to the dismantling of a drug trafficking gang in the Mabrouka district (Béni Makada arrondissement).
According to a source from the judicial police, the operation, conducted under the supervision of the Tangier police prefect, required nearly two months of research and observation as well as the mobilisation of a significant number of police officers to surround the district and prevent the dealers from escaping through its many narrow alleys. The operation led to the arrest of the gang leader, who is the subject of seven national arrest warrants, and six other members of the gang, as well as the seizure of 25 grams of heroin, a quantity of chira, bladed weapons and a car. Furthermore, the judicial police elements have succeeded in several operations targeting drug traffickers in recent days, which notably led to the arrest of three people active in the trade of psychotropic tablets in the Bouhssain district in Béni Makada, during an operation that allowed the seizure of 1,011 tablets, in addition to the arrest of a drug trafficker in the Drissia district in possession of 20 grams of heroin and a quantity of chira.
