Pollution: The negligence of the authorities

Pollution: The negligence of the authorities

The photos are of the Oued of the village of Doutemanroute, bordering the Souk Khemis Aït Ouafkka near Tafraout. Some time ago, "Libé" echoed an alert launched against the pollution of these places. As well as the various causes that have engendered this deplorable state, both for the health and quality of life of the inhabitants and for nature, whose purity is taking a hit. Since then... nothing has changed! The polluting residents continue to dump their household waste anarchically in these spaces! Wastewater emanating from the collector of a neighbouring building flows in torrents into the Oued!

The unbearable odours infest the place and inflict a harsh ordeal on the olfactory senses of passers-by. While this is happening a few steps from the dispensary and the communal headquarters. Curious proximity, one would be tempted to say. It is therefore impossible that the existence of such a black spot escapes the knowledge of local officials. Suddenly, everything suggests that they are comfortably accommodating such unsanitary conditions. Otherwise, why does the communal council not intervene to give a big sweep in the places squatted by the dump and ensure the regular passage of garbage collectors, while warning the polluters to cease their incivility, under penalty of cracking down on them by sending them reports in case of recidivism? Why does the Caid of Aït Ouafkka, who assumes a share of responsibility given the powers conferred on the supervisory authority he represents, not assert his skills in the matter in this direction? Questions to which the inhabitants of Doutemanroute and Souk Khemis Aït Ouafkka are waiting for answers. Especially since the owner of the building whose wastewater collector is being incriminated has already been reported to the local authorities, but in vain.
