Aïn Leuh hosts the 15th Ahidous Festival

The 15th edition of the Ahidous Festival will take place from 8 to 10 August in Aïn Leuh (Ifrane province), with the participation of about thirty musical troupes originating from different mountainous regions of the Middle Atlas. Placed under the High Patronage of H.M. King Mohammed VI, the festival is an artistic event that aims primarily to create a space for communication and links between poets, artists and researchers, the organisers indicated.

Initiated by the Taymate Association of Atlas Arts, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the commune of Ain Leuh, this cultural event aims to preserve and promote the art of Ahidous, which is intended to be a common heritage of all Moroccans, and to offer a space for meetings between poets, artists and researchers interested in this art.

According to the organisers, the festival accords particular interest to troupes and associations interested in the art of Ahidous, with the objective of preserving this Amazigh musical heritage and transmitting it to future generations.

The artists participating in this edition, who have given numerous concerts in Morocco and abroad, work, through their contributions, to represent Amazigh song in its best aspects, they specified.

The festival programme includes musical evenings with the participation of nearly 37 troupes, selected from 72 troupes from all regions of the Kingdom (having taken part in the national qualifiers). Various other activities are also scheduled, including workshops, colloquiums and tributes that will be paid to a number of Amazigh poets.
