Security elements in the Hay Moulay Rachid district in Casablanca arrested two people on Saturday evening, who had judicial records and were threatening pedestrians and the police with bladed weapons.
The first, a 26-year-old repeat offender in a state of drunkenness, was carrying a sword in his hand and threatening the district's residents and pedestrians, indicates a statement from the Casablanca Prefecture of Police.
The second, aged 29, was threatening the two police officers who arrested his friend with two large knives, which pushed one of these policemen to resort to using his service weapon, the statement adds, specifying that the suspect fled just after the first shot was fired into the air to intimidate him.
Security elements in the region managed to arrest the criminal who had fled after combing the district, finding him hiding in his home, the same source indicates.
