The fight against crime is being organised

“The role of civil society in the fight against crime” was the theme of a communication meeting organised on Thursday at the Ben M'Sick prefecture, in the presence of Najat Zarrouk, Governor of the Ben M'Sick prefecture, members of the DGSN, agents of the auxiliary forces, as well as several representatives of civil society associations. The meeting comes in application of the High Royal Instructions, aiming to establish perfect coordination between different security services with the goal of dealing with criminal phenomena that threaten the security and peace of mind of citizens. Emphasising the important role of civil society in establishing a true interaction with the population, particularly in terms of fighting crime in all its forms, and maintaining and preserving security, the organisers of the meeting called on civil society actors to contribute effectively, alongside security forces, to the strengthening of different approaches aimed at fighting criminal behaviour and strengthening trust and the feeling of security among the inhabitants of the neighbourhoods of the said prefecture. For their part, the associative actors who attended the meeting mentioned the problems linked to the growth of the phenomenon of crime and drug consumption in their neighbourhoods. They also highlighted the need to fight against drug trafficking, especially in schools, through, in particular, the eradication of points of sale for psychotropic drugs, narcotics and alcohol, in addition to the organisation of awareness campaigns. After having praised the role of security forces in the fight against crime and drug trafficking, they deemed it necessary to strengthen support measures that could contribute to ensuring security, by calling on security forces to interact following complaints from Moroccan citizens, the strengthening of public lighting, the pruning of trees bordering the city's avenues and the organisation of the night watchman profession.
