Ten schoolchildren aged between 5 and 10 and their chaperone were slightly injured in a traffic accident involving a school transport vehicle with 29 pupils on board and a grand taxi in the centre of Tiznit on Wednesday morning.
"Ten pupils, five boys and five girls, were slightly injured, their chaperone suffered a shoulder injury, and a young girl was evacuated to the Hassan II Hospital in Agadir as a precautionary measure," an official from the Tiznit provincial security command told MAP.
The accident occurred on Mohammed VI Avenue in front of the court of first instance, when a taxi, having failed to respect a red traffic light, hit the school transport vehicle, which tilted slightly to the right, the same source explained. Both drivers have been placed in police custody on the instructions of the King's Prosecutor for "failure to comply with the Highway Code," it is added.
