Like the other Mellahs of Morocco, the Jewish quarter of Tetouan does not budge from the architectural specificities that distinguish it from the rest of the city. Founded in 1807 by the monarch Moulay Silimane, it has long been the favorite place of residence of the city's Jewish community, which nicknames the city "little Jerusalem".
