Tetouan promotes female entrepreneurship

The city of Tetouan hosted a Moroccan-Spanish conference on Tuesday and Wednesday on the theme "The woman entrepreneur and the social economy," organized by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCIS) of the Tetouan wilaya and the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Tetouan.

This meeting, which saw the participation of women entrepreneurs and economic actors from Northern Morocco and Southern Spain, aims to develop the capacities of Moroccan and Spanish women entrepreneurs and to enhance their skills, with a view to benefiting from new investment opportunities in various sectors.

The conference is part of the "Idara" program, a cross-border cooperation project between the province of Malaga and the Tangier-Tetouan region, aimed at strengthening and developing the competitiveness of companies on both sides of the Strait of Gibraltar.

In a statement to the press, the president of the CCIS, Abdellatif Afilal, affirmed that this meeting aims to enhance the contribution of women entrepreneurs to the economy, particularly at the level of the Tangier-Tetouan region, as well as to exchange experiences and expertise in the field of social and solidarity-based economy with women entrepreneurs from the Andalusia region and the province of Malaga in particular.

For her part, Maria Del Pilar Conde, vice-president of the province of Malaga in charge of equality and citizen participation, indicated that this conference is the result of several years of cooperation within the framework of the "Idara" program, with the objective of supporting the activity of women entrepreneurs and improving their access to markets to face together the challenges of current and future economic development.

This meeting will make it possible to determine the areas of cooperation between women entrepreneurs on both sides of the Strait and will promote the implementation of a strategy for training and capacity building for women in terms of investment and business management.

For her part, Amina Rouchati, coordinator of the "Idara" program, stressed that this initiative is part of strengthening the competitiveness of companies, promoting economic and social equality between men and women, and also offers the opportunity to highlight the economic potential of the Tangier-Tetouan region and to prospect for new areas of local cooperation between Morocco and Spain.
