Judicial police officers in the city of Taourirt, acting on intelligence provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested an extremist individual on Wednesday who adheres to the radical ideology of the terrorist organization “Daesh”. The individual was working as a teacher in the Douar of “Sidi Chafi” in the Taourirt province. This arrest is part of the efforts made by security services to neutralize the risks of terrorist threats and prevent extremist projects that threaten the security and stability of the Kingdom.
A statement from the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations mentioned that search procedures at the suspect's home led to the seizure of suspicious chemical substances likely to be used in the manufacture of improvised explosive devices, including bottles containing “hydrochloric” acid, ”hydrogen peroxide”, and ”zinc sulfate”, which have been referred for scientific analysis, as well as various bladed weapons, mobile phones, and electronic storage devices.
The same source added that preliminary investigation data indicate that the suspect had collected significant information to learn about materials and substances used in the manufacture of explosives and had trained on how to prepare them for use in his terrorist project, with the aim of seriously harming the safety of individuals and public order.
The individual arrested in this case has been referred to the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations, where he has been placed in police custody for further investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office in charge of terrorism cases, in order to uncover all the terrorist objectives planned by the individual and to verify his potential links to other accomplices and contributors.
