The electric highway project between the south and the centre of the Kingdom is beginning to take shape.
The National Office for Electricity and Potable Water (ONEE) has just launched the call for tenders for the topographical studies to define a 100m corridor, or two 40m corridors in case of terrain constraints, for the future very high voltage (3 gigawatts) Oued Lakraâ-Marrakech electric link, which is approximately 1,100 km long, and the Oued Lakraâ terminal station.
A first phase of the project, with a capacity of 1,500 megawatts (MW), is expected to be operational in 2026, while the second, also of 1,500 MW, will enter service in 2028.
