The Omnium Marocain de Pêche is the largest employer in the province of Tan Tan, if not the Southern provinces. Faced with serious financial difficulties, it threatens to close its doors. From sit-in to sit-in, through the different neighbourhoods of Tan Tan, the employees declare that the company owes them a few months of salary and tell anyone who will listen that they are asking for nothing other than their rights, namely that of receiving their salary arrears and being maintained in their jobs. However, the CEO of the company announced a stoppage of activities of its fishing fleet of about sixty freezer trawlers of the sistership type moored at the port of Tan Tan. The reason invoked by the management of the Omnium is the refusal of their bank to renew the credit lines that the company benefited from in the past. But it must also be emphasised that the group's insurer also declined the renewal of insurance contracts for personnel and trawlers. Among other difficulties, the company had already been tracked for several years by the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) for the non-payment of social contributions for its 2,200 employees.
