Within the framework of the 2015 National Strategy which aims at the promotion of the various fields of the beekeeping sector, the second edition of the Beekeeping Fair, which aims to be a showcase for locally produced honey, constitutes a meeting place between beekeepers from all the urban and rural communes of the province, in order to exchange their experiences. The opening ceremony took place last Tuesday at the headquarters of the Sidi Slimane province. In total, the event brought together eighteen exhibitors. Particular interest was given to women artisans, invited to exhibit their products to help visitors discover their know-how. This event is a real opportunity for actors in the sector to promote their products, through creativity and innovation, as well as to promote income-generating activities launched within the framework of the National Initiative for Human Development. The fair also constitutes the occasion to highlight the strategy developed in terms of production, protection, and promotion of this local product highly coveted, both by Moroccans and foreigners. According to Mohamed Hanafi, head of the Economic and Social Division of the province, the beekeeping sector will soon inherit a headquarters that will be built on an area of 208 m2 for a total cost of 1.15 MDH. Some 120 associations should benefit from this premises which will house this age-old trade. The project is part of the support for the social and solidarity economy, through a partnership agreement linking the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), the Social Development Agency (ADS), and the Beekeepers' Association. The inauguration ceremony was marked by the presence of the governor of the Sidi Slimane province, Lahoucine Amzal, the secretary general of the province Mostapha El Idrissi El Khair, provincial authorities, presidents of urban and rural communes, and several civil and military personalities.
