As part of the implementation of the communication plan for the year 2013, the social action division recently organised an information day at the Continuing Education Centre on the theme 'INDH: balance sheet and new developments'. The organisation of this day consolidates the process of local communication linked to the INDH, which has set itself the objective of promoting the values of said initiative as well as its achievements and accomplishments.
This meeting was an opportunity to present the balance sheet of the projects implemented within the framework of the National Initiative for Human Development at the level of the Sidi Kacem province, as well as figures on the achievements concerning other sectors. Speaking on this occasion, Mohamed Jarrah, head of the Social Action division, presented, in the presence of representatives of the local press, the state of play of the INDH at the level of the Sidi Kacem province, specifying that during the 2005-2012 period, 568 projects were initiated at the provincial level with a total cost of 270 million DH, including 212 million DH as a contribution from the INDH. Regarding only the first two years of the second phase 2011-2015, the number of projects reached 217 for a total cost of 123 million dirhams, of which 90 million dirhams were provided by the INDH, thus financing projects in the sectors of health, education, youth and sports, equipment, and National Mutual Aid, as well as income-generating activities for the benefit of vulnerable people and young graduates. In addition, the various communes of the province benefited, for the years 2011-2012, from several interventions with a total investment of nearly 2 billion DH. He also explained that the sectoral distribution shows that 94 projects concern income-generating activities, valued at 23 million dirhams, benefiting 700 people from rural areas and young graduates. Furthermore, it should be noted that the new regional approach adapted in terms of planning and conducting certain health actions to follow medical caravans, whose balance sheet for the 2012 financial year was very positive and exceeded the objectives set at the level of the three provinces 'Kenitra, Sidi Slimane, and Sidi Kacem' of the Gharb-Cherrada-Beni Hssen region, has left resounding echoes among the inhabitants of the Sidi Kacem province, particularly in rural areas lacking health centres.
History of the INDH
By launching the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) on 18 May 2005, H.M. King Mohammed VI wanted to take up the challenge by starting an initiative that advocates participatory governance as a new method of managing public affairs. This initiative, which came with the objective of fighting against poverty, social exclusion, and precariousness, has made it possible to break with centralising practices and top-down approaches in terms of development. Thus, the INDH allowed, during its first phase 2005-2010, the realisation of more than 22,000 projects and actions, including more than 3,700 income-generating activities, for the benefit of 5.2 million beneficiaries.
