Located at the height of the bus station and the large square for grand taxis connecting the cities of Rabat, Sidi Slimane, Kénitra and Souk Arbaa du Gharb, the Souk has been laid out on an area of 10,000 hectares, with 200 lots including stands and shops, 37 of which are already in operation. The rest are under construction and should be completed before the end of this year, according to the partnership agreement between the municipal council and the SORSA company. The governor of the province, Hadj Chakib Bourkia, explained the importance of this Souk by the fact that Sidi Kacem possesses enormous potential and that the city is at the crossroads of important axes, on the routes where vehicles and trains pass connecting the main cities of the Kingdom: Fez, Meknès, Rabat, Tangier, Casablanca, Nador. The municipal authorities and the governor are in favour of a participatory urban policy based on action programmes. Thus, recently, several programmes have been launched, such as the restoration of roads, the improvement of public lighting, the fight against insalubrious housing, the development of roads and tracks, etc., and this in all the urban and rural communes of the province.
