Migration attempt thwarted in Sidi Ifni

The Royal Gendarmerie services in Sidi Ifni managed, at dawn today, Friday, to thwart an illegal migration attempt that was being organized from "Asmira" beach within the jurisdiction of the Sbouya command towards the Spanish islands.

According to information obtained by Hespress newspaper from informed sources, this precise operation, which took place under the field supervision of the commander of the Sidi Ifni Gendarmerie company, came after accurate data collected by the gendarmerie elements using a "drone" aircraft designated for monitoring and combing the coasts.

The same sources stated that this intervention enabled the arrest of 36 candidates for illegal migration, all of them Moroccans, including a woman, in addition to two organizers; as well as the seizure of a four-wheel-drive vehicle, a jet engine, and a rubber boat, in addition to approximately 300 litres of petrol distributed in 25-litre barrels.

This operation falls within the framework of the efforts made by the Royal Gendarmerie services in Sidi Ifni to combat prohibited activities of all kinds, primarily human trafficking and illegal migration gangs.
