Awareness-raising on serious diseases

Awareness-raising on serious diseases

More than 3,000 people from the province of Sidi Ifni recently benefited from a medical campaign organised by the Grand Atlas Association, Agadir and South section, in collaboration with the Higher School of Health of Agadir and the Emergency Action Association of Rabat, which mobilised two mobile units equipped for medical examinations.

During this three-day campaign, the medical teams mobilised for this purpose performed 50 surgical operations and 150 circumcisions in Sidi Ifni, Lakhsas, and Tioughza.

This humanitarian and solidarity action required the mobilisation of a medical staff composed of 35 specialist doctors (gynaecology, paediatrics, ophthalmology, cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, and gastroenterology), 50 nurses, and 03 pharmacists. For its part, the Provincial Health Delegation made available to the organisers the Sidi Ifni Health Centre, and the premises and staff necessary for the smooth running of this operation in Sidi Ifni, Lakhsas, and Tioughza.

Dr. Solbi, coordinator of the campaign and director of the Higher School of Health of Agadir, stressed that the objective of organising this campaign was to bring specialised medical services closer to the greatest number of beneficiaries, and in particular the populations of remote areas who suffer from the insufficiency or even the total absence of specialist doctors.

During this campaign, Lahoucine Tagant, president of the Grand Atlas Association, Agadir and South section, handed over, on behalf of the association, a batch of medical equipment, care equipment, and medicines to the Provincial Hospital of Sidi Ifni.

And on this occasion, he stressed that the essential objective of the association was to highlight the danger represented by certain serious diseases, notably cancer and cardiovascular diseases, and to raise awareness among citizens regarding their early screening. He also specified that the association will ensure the post-operative follow-up of patients who have been the subject of free surgical operations within the framework of this medical campaign.
