Safi will have its integrated industrial platform and logistics zone

The Greater Safi region intends to consolidate its industrial infrastructure. The city plans to equip itself with an integrated industrial platform and a new-generation logistics zone.



After the feasibility studies for the development of this platform were awarded to Etic Consult, the contract for the environmental impact studies of this strategic project was entrusted to the firm Hydroprotect Consult. The planned platform will cover an area of approximately 105 hectares and will be developed in the commune of Khatazakane. It will house several components, namely industrial and logistics plots of various sizes (2,000 to 20,000 m²), a shopping centre and services for workers (points of sale, banking services, catering, etc.), a space for startups and small and medium-sized enterprises, shared service buildings (offices, training rooms, coworking, health centre), a road centre with a petrol station, catering, parking and maintenance, and a wastewater treatment plant (STEP).

According to a monograph by the High Commission for Planning (HCP), the Safi province, due to its privileged geographical position on the Atlantic coast, its agricultural, fishing, maritime, and tourism potential, presents enough assets in the industrial sector. Industrial activity in the region has the particularity of being strongly open to the international market, hence the volume of exports which contributes significantly to wealth creation. Indeed, the industrial fabric of the province is certainly diversified, but remains dominated by chemical and para-chemical industries. The province also houses light industries to satisfy consumption needs. These are essentially fish canneries concentrated in the city of Safi. Added to this is the proliferation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the provincial industrial fabric operating in various sectors such as textiles, leather, construction, and electronics.
